Default Rotax 343/339cc Sled Motor in a '85 EZgo

Just wondering the possibility or helpful steps of putting a sled motor into an 85 ezgo marathon.. my question being, what new would be needed if the cart has everything except a motor, a clutch? or a new muffler? any input would be helpful thanks

Well. Does the cart have a secondary clutch already on it? If so, it is possible to use that. The engine should have a primary clutch already on it. If it doesn't, you'll need to find one.

The snowmobile engine is two stroke, and takes a tuned pipe, usually the sled you pull it out of will have a tuned pipe. It can be a challenge to fit that pipe into the cart though, I found this out from experience. We ended having to cut part of the body out to fit it, but it works. If you don't have the sled that the engine came out of you'll need to find some other pipe that would work.

You'll also have to consider cooling, if it's a liquid cooled engine you'll need some kind of radiator and a fan for said radiator. If it's a fan cooled engine, then the engine will have it's own fan to directly blow air on the engine, it would probably be a good idea to run an external fan though, one that brings in outside air into the the engine area. If it's an air cooled engine, some fans blowing on the engine might work.

To run the fans, you'll need a battery and a way to keep it charged, or you'll have to keep recharging it every now and then.
