1976 Harley Davidson overheats
My 1976 HD gets excessively hot and stops running. It will run after it cools. It does not seize it just stops. It may be losing its crank case seal but I don't know. Has any one else had this problem and what did you do to solve it? The flywheel fan is in working order. Has anyone removed the cooling shroud to fix this?

If the seals are bad, once it gets hot you may not have enough vacuum/pulse
to opertae the fuel pump. When it get hot pull the gas line off and see if it's pumping any fuel. |

Re: 1976 Harley Davidson overheats
I pulled the cylinder shroud this last week and it hasn't overheated since. However the outside temp hasn't topped 85 degrees. It may be a different next summer when it gets 107 to 110 degrees. I will add a squirrel cage blower to cool it and it should work fine. I think the fan is not efficient!!!!!!!!
