![]() I have gone through 2 starter generators in the past 2 weeks on my 05 club car ds. The first was the original and the second was an OEM part from dealership. This all started once I installed a light kids on the cart. On both starters the commutator came apart and kicks the crashes out of the boots. I will attach a photo of the first one. Can messing with government ruin the starters or maybe a bad ground. The second time I noticed the battery was to hit to touch.

Sorry to see that. I would guess that the generator is charging at a too high rate, not only overheating the generator, but most likely damaging other electrical parts on your cart. Can you tell us who you bought the light kit from and what model kit ? Before installing a new generator, you should carefully check the wiring to the generator and install a new regulator. Then after you get the engine started, quickly check the battery voltage. If it is over 15V, shut off the engine and determine why you are getting such a high voltage output. Richard |

![]() The light were Dr.Acces Club Car DS LED Light. I got it off Amazon. I went over all grounds on the cart. They all seemed good. I did have to change out the braided ground strap for 6 gauge grounding wire to make it fit a 6inch lift but the first starter was with the origin grounding strap.

![]() Would a lawn and garden battery with 275 cca be a cause for the SG to burn up?
