Do you have a picture or diagram on where I would find this? From the looks of the parts manual, it appears to be under the “hood”?

Under the hood but it is mounted to the tubular chassis right at the front where the lower bumper cover hides it.

Best photo I can find tonight yet, follow the green arrow. The LAD itself is about the size of one those large wooden match boxes you would take camping.

Heres another photo of it from the service manual, it is mounted on its side. When pedal fully down the plunger should max out.

Thank, you! I found it.

I am guess that I can tighten the 1/2 nut on the cable bracket to increase the pull, is that correct?

First make sure to loosen the u-bolt on the device and move it as far forward as possible. If that doesn't do it then adjust the nut on the cable bracket.

Thanks! I will do that adjustment this afternoon.

I had a guy tell me it could be the Resistor Assembly, 10k OHM. Could that possibly be it? Seemed logical since I was driving when I felt the cart shift to slower speed and it sounds like that is a large "fuse".

Any thoughts on that?

yes, it is a possibility. Easily measured with an ohm meter, but I see you just ordered one anyway and it's already on it's way to you.

While those do have the affect of losing the speed encoder reference signal, in 3.5 years Columbia has only sold 20 of them. In ten years as a tech support manager at Columbia I'd say it's rare.

Talking Re: 2010 ParCar will not switch to fast mode

Thanks for the help, Tech Support. We are back up to 20 MPH!!

Final tally of repairs
-new speed encoder, slight crack in old magnet
-adjusted LAD, acceleration cable needs to be replaced
-new resistor assembly (this got be another 5-6 mph after adjusting the LAD)

While I was adjusting the LAD, I noticed the cable is pretty stretched and corroded, it needs to be replaced soon. That will be my next project. Pretty confident that I will be going close to 25 once complete.

FYI the cable is part number 760641. For when your budget is ready...
