Where to mount MCOR on '86 DS
I got all of the parts needed to convert my DS to an MCOR (thank you, Dave!), but I cannot find a suitable way to mount the MCOR. I can't think that I am the only one who had done this and am hoping for some input.
Hopefully somebody has a solution and maybe even some pics! |

Re: Where to mount MCOR on '86 DS
That being an 86 frame, I'm assuming it is pre MCOR age. So no pre drilled holes in the frame for one?
I would guess if that is the case you will need to find out measurements to place the holes. If a more knowledgeable member can confirm this, that would be good information to know. I could then try to get you measurements from my cart, but it is a bit of a project to get to that area since I put my bellypan on, so would like confirmation before I go through the work. (I have a possibility of getting an 82 frame for free and thought about doing a flip project) |

Re: Where to mount MCOR on '86 DS
Definitely pre MCOR age. Was an old resistor cart but I have replaced everything and this made the most sense to do from everything that I have read.
There are no frame holes (I could drill one/some easy enough though). The "problem" when I look at doing that is the rod length; it does not appear that it will reach far enough to catch the Go pedal arm. And if I try to mount it under the frame rail (where the rod is long enough) it hangs down too far and I really do not want it exposed like that. I've fabbed up quite a bit of stuff so far for this so that part does not really worry me, but I can't see an easy way to mount where the geometry works. I can't have been the only one to do this so I am hoping that someone has already and can point me in the right direction (and it sounds like it may help you if you go that route also, BBBHC!). |

Did You get the pre-mcor to mcor4 kit?
I thought it came with everything you needed and instructions on how to mount. |

Re: Where to mount MCOR on '86 DS
I did. The instructions don't really go back to 1986 so I had to wing some of the removal stuff (no biggie and was not needed). I am 100% ready to mount but the location for the MCOR and the length of the rod do not line up with anything on the '86 frame from what I am seeing (weird thought: are all of the DS frames exactly the same?). If I am seeing this right, the MCOR sits right where the vertical section of the "I" frame piece is; I cannot go on either side of the rib and make it work-the rod is too long on the inside and too short on the other side.

Re: Where to mount MCOR on '86 DS
OK-here is where I formally apologize for wasting peoples time and admitting for all to see that I am an idiot. I crawled back under tonight to look things over and then looked at the MCOR again. I had already mounted the rod and just couldn't see a clear path (why I already mounted the rod is anyones guess-I'm an idiot!) to mounting this thing. Took it all apart and then climbed back under and finally saw the path (note to others: this conversion is really simple if you are not an idiot and takes maybe 15 minutes). The hardest part was adjusting the Go pedal to 5 7/8" alone (crawl under cart-adjust; crawl out and check clearance. Crawl under cart-adjust; crawl out and check clearance. Crawl under cart-adjust; crawl out and check clearance. Crawl under cart-adjust; crawl out and check clearance. Repeat a dozen more times.....).
I apologize for wasting peoples time with this; so stupid! |

Re: Where to mount MCOR on '86 DS
Thanks guys. Such a bonehead move! Best to just own it and move on (and somewhat easier since my wife does not read this page!).
