Default Stealth 4 x 4 wiring problem

Trying to sort out the 4 x 4 switch / wiring on my 2009 Stealth XR

I reviewed the post from Bama Bob and what I found is not the same.

I have 3 wire attached to the switch same as BB but

The red #14 or so goes to a 20 amp fuse behind battery 1 then to the + B terminal or 48 v from #1 battery + post

The black wire is spliced with 1 lead going to the front gear box and the 2nd
black going to a battery hold down clamp rod between battery 1 and 2. Note hemostat clamp on wire in pict 3 + 4

The 3 rd is a orange wire that is the 2nd wire going to the front gear box.

2 things very strange about this

I HAVE 50 VOLTS THE SWITCH

AND THE BLACK WIRE IS TIED TO A CHASSY GROUND

This black looks like an original wire in the same bundle as 3 other wires that go to B+
With the length of the wire the only other place it may have been hooked is the negative post on battery 2 (which would result in 12v at the switch)
I know i need to eliminate the CHASSY ground connection, so do I take it to - on bat 2 or to B- ????

Front wheel drive switch & gear is a 12 volt system ( 2 x 6 volt). The colors of my wires have been replaced, so yours may be different (origional). I don't have a reducer on my cart (I think some models did), so I connected these to 2 of the 6 volt batteries. Positive (red wire) to battery #1 Pos. and the return Negative (black wire) to the negative of #2 battery. Someone has been messing with your wiring, surely the fuse is blown....right?

Also what to point out that the switch on the dash, looking at the back of it, the bottom 2 connections are common, top is the negative. If switch is installed upside down, this would be reversed....something I didn't think about.

If that 12volt solenoid in the front gearbox has been getting 50volts, you might have problems there as well.

I would think fuse would blow before anything burn up if exposed to 50 volts but i dunno

THanks guys

I moved the black wire from the battery hold down bolt to the #2 ground effectively 12v to the front diff.

Now the 4 x 4 is working great.

Very weird never blew a fuse.

Now I have a similar problem with the horn. 36 volts acrost the horn foot switch.
Horn seems to be blown. Won't work with 12v from a test battery.

Great news about your 4x4 problem!

Did you put 12v directly to the horn terminal and to a clean ground on the horn? Sometimes those foot switches go bad.

How is that hooked up, to 6 batteries? Boy, someone that didn't know what they were doing has been doing some weird wiring on that thing....anyway, you lucky that it's only the horn burnt up..I would take some time and go over everything and make certain of where any wires that are coming off batteries go. Probably be a good time to clean, tighten connections anyway.

Who needs a horn anyway? I don't understand why they would put one on them
