2004 mci txt
Question for the experts, My TXT was hard to start but did sit for 3 weeks. When it did start it ran great for 1/2 of the block and it sounded like a gun shot going off and then died. I assume it was a back fire but could have been internal.
It has ran great until tonight. i kep the oil changed and valves set. any suggestions on where to start would be appreciated. |

Re: 2004 mci txt
I installed a new carb. and it runs great with the exception gas runs out of the overflow hoses . The only diffrence is the old carb had one hose this one has two. It is not a cheap ebay carb it came from a repital suppler, any thoughts?
The other thing on the timing cover is says Fugi Robbins. the exahaust manifold is a sigle port. I just want to confirm it is a MCI engine Thank in advance for any suggestions |

Re: 2004 mci txt
The pre MCI had a cast iron exhaust manifold, sounds like your float bowl level is set to high.

Re: 2004 mci txt
Thanks for the reply's. I pulled the bowl off and it had trash on the float valve. I was surprised of that being a brand new Carb.
The carb came from a online parts dealer. Buggies unlimited was out of stock so I went to another online source out of Austin TX. |

Re: 2004 mci txt
Still need help. I cleaned the new Carb and it ran perfect until it got warm. At that point it wouldn't start. Set for a minute and it started but backfired and sputtered when I let of the gas.
I took it to a golf cart dealer and they cant get it to stop backfiring also. They have changed plugs set valves which I had already done. They have had it a week and they said its better but still backfiring a little when you let off the gas. Any suggestions? |

Re: 2004 mci txt
Make sure the throttle plate is closing all the way when you're off the throttle.
Also make sure the set screw is all the way out.. or removed. |

Re: 2004 mci txt
The idle screw on the carb where the cable hooks to, it's for a different application not golf cart.
