Before it gets installed in my short block a pic of the Bullfrog rod along side of the stock cast clone rod and the ARC billet unit. You can see how beefy the Bullfrog unit is in the critical area around the crank pin

Piston rings, pin and circlips all installed on the piston. Pretty much everything for the short block is ready for assembly once the Speedway Motors bell crank shows up and is installed in the block.

Installed the side cover stud kit from NRracing on the block. Dry fit everything first to check for fit and then did the recommended Loctite blue on studs

Anybody that wants to build a killer zero deck height clone. Here it is 460 block, 64 mm crankshaft , VC or NR 92 mm flat top piston, and Bullfrog 4.650 billet rod. At the moment all in stock parts BUT if you are thinking about one get them while they are there because who knows about down the road parts supplies.

This morning I did it. My Omega 1 is assembled , clearanced , and torqued. I had to do the crankshaft clearance 3 times ruining a side cover gasket in the process. I ended up with the .0006 shim.

Ordered another set of 92 mm clone rings that fit the flat top or dished VC piston and another 10 bolt side cover gasket. Nice to have spares no matter what happens. I just looked at the postage date on the Raceseng. 12/08/2014. Now that is some extensive shelf testing. Part of the story is that I was planning on building an Omega like engine shortly after getting the original gen 1 VC 460 in october of 2014 BUT then before I could find all the parts needed the very simple long rod VC Gen 3 parts came out and it got the nod over the much more exotic build.

After lugging this bare 460 short block back and forth untold times I decided to weigh it today. No clutch or flywheel installed and the only extra weight is the the NR cylinder bore torque plate and bolts. Any Guesses ? The Speedway Motors bell crank arrived today. What a jewel of a piece of machining along with it's sealed ball bearing pivot point.

Here is a pic of my Omega build sealed off to the world. Now waiting for some 1/4" key stock to arrive so I can add a cast iron pulley on the clutch side to torque the Raceseng flywheel on. Oddly Raceseng recommends 83 ft/lbs where Jody Powell from ARC recommends 65 ft/lbs. I am going with Jody's # since he is still in business. Also didn't feel comfortable with Raceseng's recommendation of using a piston stop to torque the flywheel nut.

The answer to my question of how much my short block weighs is 32 lbs. It seemed a lot heavier than that carry it back and forth between building sessions.

83 ft/lbs of torque on the flywheel nut is Honda's recommendation for a cast iron flywheel. An aluminum flywheel shouldn't need that much torque to hold its position. Also you wouldn't want to deform the flywheel over tightening it.
