Starting from scratch
Okay, I'm a new guy to this site and the world of golf carts. I recently aquired two lifted carts with 25" dirt devil tires and long travel suspension. One has a arctic cat 440 motor, which I think I'm going to sell, and the other came with a CBR 600 motor, not yet installed. My question is, how hard and how much would it cost to make the one cart with no motor, electric, with a top speed of 30 +, and how long will I be able to drive on one charge? Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Starting from scratch
I think it would be easier to buy an electric cart and start from there. You could probably move the suspension mods to electric cart and then upgrade elec system to get the speed you want.

Re: Starting from scratch
Thanks for the warm welcome......Yeah, thought it might be a little spendy and difficult trying to convert over. Oh well, guess I will shove that CBR 600 in there. Here is a pic of my green cart.

Re: Starting from scratch
I actually only have two. I traded my long travel sand rail for two carts and a quad. The guy that traded me, said he bought like 24 carts from a place in Arizon for $1700. Between him and his son he still has aorund six carts and has built 44 total, I think he said. The other one I have is still golf cart white, but lifted higher, and waiting for the motor. I go to the dunes quite often so it is getting some pieces added onto the cage and mounted to the frame instead of just the body, also coil over shocks are a must. My green cart has air suspension with limit straps, too much body roll, but cool to air up and down. I will get some more pics as soon as I can. I have to say, this is a pretty cool site, I think I am hooked on this cart thing.

Re: Starting from scratch
If you have a gas cart and want an electric do not convert it! Gas carts have a higher resale value than electric carts so sell the gas and buy an electric. You will have money left over from your sale to modify the electric.
