Holes in metal body

I own a 1999 ezgo workhorse. The man I got it from decided he would install a homemade top so he drilled holes in the rear metal body for his rear top struts and used angle iron.

He must have been drinking or something because he drilled four holes on one side and two on the other. 3/8th diameter.

I removed that junk and put the correct rear struts on it with correct top.

Now I have 6 large holes that are starting to rust around where they drilled the holes.

Any suggestions on filling these holes in ? I don't think JB weld would stay. ? I don't want to mess up the rest of the body trying to weld those holes up. Unless someone knows a trick I don't know.

Maybe just light sand them, put some white paint there and stick some plastic push in things in the holes.

Otherwise the cart is clean as new now. Engine is like new also. I seem to fall in love with everything I buy . I now got way too many hours of work bringing it back to life so I will just drive it.

Yes I now see rivets in them. Remove them ?

You can but would have to find them used. Another option is to convert it to the newer cushman body. Cost a little money but don’t see why you couldn’t do it. Short body or long?

That said you could always wrap it.

The right way would be remove it and press a little patch under it and weld it up, refinish and install. Weld is kind of the only way it wont rust. You could put SS bolts in holes, or plugs of some kind. Or right, replace the panel with something else. Unless you can mount something there like a cooler or rack, seat, subwoofer, etc.

You can go old school body work patch...cut radial slices in the holes and bend them back in and into a "L" shape inside the hole to give you a flange to work with, add a small piece of metal as a backer, fill with Bondo. Just need something back there to hold it. in place.
