EZ GO under wate
I picked up a 48 volt EZ GO that was under water
I pulled the motor and had it cleaned, I also drained the differential I want to find a source where I can get free service manual information and wiring diagrams to aid me in this rebuild I would like to strip it down more to make sure all the water is gone Also I would like to find out if the batteries can be refurbised by replacing the acid Here is the model information Serial# 745393 Manf Code E2493 Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated Thank You Beatnick Last edited by beatnick; 11-15-2008 at 11:05 AM.. Re: EZ GO under wate
you sure its a 48 volt? E-Z didn,t make one in 93 i still don,t think they do.......unless the cart was modified......check battery fill holes 3 holes is a 6 volt battery or a 36 volt cart if they have 4 holes than its a 48 volt cart so double check them all to make sure they arn,t mixed and matched.........there is a place to download E-Z go service manuals but you,ll have to wait for one of the guys who knows the addy of the site.............................

Re: EZ GO under wate
First question, Fresh or Salt?
If salt, you must be much more dilligent. Mine was recently flooded during Hurricane IKE and as a result I had to replace: Controller Motor Solenoid Resistor FNR switch bus bar ITS throttle microswitch (accelerator petal) Charger Receptacle reed switch Solenoid Diode FNR switch micro switchs (qty 2) FNR switch contact board Brake cable set Light kit Also found water in the following locations: steering boot ITS throttle box motor (obviously) So far, the following appear OK: Brakes & drums Differential (drained - no water) front bearings/spindles rear axle bearings When a cart submerges, the batteries will burn clear any wires that remain connected. I lost wires at the solenoid, resistor, key switch, and reed switch. Decided to rewire most of it with new wires. Was able to reuse the ITS harness and keyswitch harness once I placed new ends on it, but probably should just replace them anyway. Trojan T-105 batteries were submerged but appear OK, I believe the surge lasted between 4 & 6 hours and peaked about 3 inches over the batteries. I stripped the body down to the bare frame, removed all wires, all plastic, anything that was not going to be pressure washed (3600 PSI using blasting tip). Used pressure washer to peal any rust and loose paint from the frame. Repainted frame and cleaned up all the parts. Also did some opportunistic upgrades while in there. HD leaf springs 5" lift kit (it came with a home made lift from previous owner) diamond plate 2 speed motor 400A controller HD solenoid, bus bars So far I am in for just over $2000 in parts and materials. Good luck! Here is a link to the work in progress: http://s491.photobucket.com/albums/r...view=slideshow Aimless |
