I need to change the coller, roller in the primary clutch on my yamaha g22.
How do i get the spider off, or the clutch off so i can change the roller.
the reason i need to change the roller, is because it has a flat spot and the weight keeps passing it. !!!!! any help would be great !!!!!!!!

I "pull" the clutch assy off in one peice (off the crank) with a primary clutch puller. If you take the big bolt out with an impact (counterclockwise) you may get lucky and have it come off the crank by itself (it's a "swedge" fit). Once the clutch assy is off, put the engine side of the "fixed sheave" into a good vise and tighten it down. Use a propane tortch to loosen the loctite (used in installation) between the spider and the fixed sheave. There is another special tool used to "unscrew" the spider (a pipe wrench should do the job without damaging the spider) in a counterclockwise rotation. Change the rollors/spider and reassemble with loctite on the threads. Good luck Dave

Dave, thanks for your reply. I wish I read your reply before I remove the crank bolt and started using a puller and tortch to heat it up, but no luck, it didn’t move.
I ordered a clutch puller. I should have it in a couple days, I will screw the puller in and the complete clutch should come off. Right ?
I wish the "slider sheave" would slide back far enough from the spider so I can change the roller, but I guess it will not.
Ok, I have the "fixed sheave" in a vice, you said, I need to find a way to unscrew the "sliding sheave" and the spider at the same time off the "fix sheave".
I need to replace 1 roller for all this trouble. No easier way to do this ?

Dang....I just spent alot of time replying, and the post would'nt take. I'll try one more time. When you get your tool, with an impact, should come right off. If your sliding sheave moved that far, your weights would always pass the rollor/collar. Once in the vise..If you have a "plumbers wrench" you should be able to get the jaws down into the spider to unscrew it. DO NOT forget to use the propane tourch to loosen the loctite on the theads of the fixed sheave and spider threads! No there is not an easier way to do this. You will handle this just fine. Later Dave
