1997 Club Car Question (s)
Hello all,
A friend of a friend has a 1997 Club Car that from the pics he sent looks pretty much standard off the shelf cart. Is there anything that stands out about these models that I should know before I go to see it? Also, is there an approximate resale value on this model? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Bud |

Re: 1997 Club Car Question (s)
not sure about the resale of it but as in all C.C,s old and newer the most common problems, on that year in my opinion is it has what i call a junk or throw away carb if it goes and the firing system, coil/ignitor combo and rpm limitor..........when they go theres no way to bench test them so they leave you guessing................other than that not much difference..................

Re: 1997 Club Car Question (s)
Good luck with that. My faulty coil gave the same readings whether it was working or not. After that little fiasco made me look elsewhere for the problem I took Tom's (Shadowman ) advice who persuaded me it really was the coil. I replaced it and no more problems. I have subsequently replaced several coils on customers carts when presented with these symptoms and never bothered again to Ohm them out. 100% success on all of them.

Re: 1997 Club Car Question (s)
Yes, the ohms were in range but that never stopped the coil from misbehaving and measuring within specs despite the fact it obviously was the root cause of the problem. Feel free to share your readings of this issue and explain in concise terms why exactly this occurs and why precisely, a new coil fixes the problem because I for one am mystified. I can tell you this, in my investigations; The coil reads the same at a cold condition as it does when hot and failed. (Test leads left attached)
