97 EZGO problems please help
I recently was given a 97 EZgo and was told all it needed was batteries. well I installed new batteries and cart seemed to run fine but then it started to loose power to the point it came to a stop. well after it set for a few minutes it then began to work but then I noticed if there is any kind of restraint on the cart (ex. going up hill) the cart will vibrate and loose power again. I then rechecked battery terminals and voltage and all look and check out fine.
One thing I do notice is you can hold the cart by hand and push the gas and the cart will move but then start to vibrate and stop, this is not using much force to hold the cart! Could this be the motor or somthing in the cart? |

Sounds like low voltage. Have you charged the new pack completely? What are the individual voltage readings on each battery?

A battery at 6.2v is only 70% charged, fully charged is 6.37v. Check the pack voltage at the cart charge receptacle and post it here. Also, check to make sure your rear hubs aren't spinning freely on either side. If you have a stripped hub the cart could act the way you are describing.

Re: 97 EZGO problems please help
well if i hold the brake and push the gas the voltage on the pak goes from 39.2 volts to a drop in voltage that is steady in the pak and down to 18 volts. I then tested my other cart and the voltage before pushing the gas is 38 and when the gas is pushed it only drops 2 volt while pressing the brake and gas together. So there is really somthing wrong here.

Are the cables original? Any corrosion present? All batteries wired in series Neg to Pos to Neg to Pos etc? Control circuits in good shape? Can you post a pic of the underseat area?

Re: 97 EZGO problems please help
Let's make sure it's a '97 via the numbers from the plate in the passenger storage space. Also, does this cart have a toggle switch on the controller cover under the passenger side seat?
