Backup Buzzer alternative
So the wife and I are the proud new owners of a Caribbean Blue I40L. Showing off to the family and then the wife puts it in reverse , being new she is being careful and then neighbors come out to look Well, definitely need to find an alternative, not sure I want a camera but I think I hit the jackpot. Found a place called Backup Tunes (web search) and they have one that plays Calypso tunes, perfect! But before I drop $$ on it has anyone else given them a shot? backuptunes.com
Cheers. |

Re: Backup Buzzer alternative
just unplug it? if you're doing it for safety reasons then how would people hearing a song associate that with someone going in reverse?

Re: Backup Buzzer alternative
Some people tone them down with electrical tape, zip tie a sock or rag over it as well.
Could even replace the audible one for a strobe mounted on the back roof or somewhere. |

Sock and duct tape worked well for me. I tried unplugging but found I like a bit of noise to remind me.

I unplugged and all is good - cart works fine, no buzzer, no residual noise. Thinking about wiring a backup cam to the now unused buzzer cord.

Thanks to all, wife still wants something to make noise at least until she gets used to the cart. Was thinking about a camera but concerned about someone helping themselves to the monitor when parked in town.

Re: Backup Buzzer alternative
the horn is under the driver bench (at least for the i40/i20). follow the wires back to a plug, disconnect. Apologize to your neighbors and swear it will never happen again, if it does, blame the parents as the elderly can get away with anything.

Re: Backup Buzzer alternative
Wasn't there a company that made one which could play custom tunes?

Re: Backup Buzzer alternative
I saw this unusual hack on another forum and it actually worked to greatly quiet the backup sound (if you desire to keep a backup alarm). Stuff a piece of cloth in the bowl of the horn and.....here comes the weird part....seal it with a Pringles lid. The Pringles lid is a perfect tight fit and this muffles the alarm greatly. No kidding. I tried it and I like it. Ha ha.
