J-ROB,
I teach collision repair at Gibson Technical Center in Reeds Spring, MO. We are just out Branson on Table Rock Lake.

So the rear body COULD have been simple with just one long seam to weld together, but I didn't think it tucked enough rear tire...

I decided to add 1 1/2 inches of plastic to the sides of the rear body so that snowballed into each side having 13 different sections of plastic to put it back together. I hope to have both sides stitched together from the backside by the end of the day. Kinda of one of those "oh crap what did I get myself into" moments after I made the first cut and realized it was going to be way more work than I envisioned. Oh well, I believe I have read this somewhere on this sight: If custom was easy then everyone would have a kick butt cart...

Well I had time to spend three whole days at the shop this week. Progress seems to be slower when its hot outside vs working in the fall and winter. Maybe it's just because I'm to the really tedious work that has to be done before any more major things can happen.

I did get the rear body all plastic welded and set onto the frame. I still need to get all the seems sanded down and body worked but wanted to get somewhere on the frame before I get locked out of the shop while the custodians refinish my shop floors for next school year.

I also believe I have all the brackets fabbed up and welded to the frame to hold the air compressor, valve block, and new running gear components. I even added some supports to flush mount a 10' subwoofer into the rear end.

Hers are some pictures of the rear body all welded up and sitting on the cart. I think it ended up being around 10" wider than stock. I have a feeling that it will take another 3-4 tubes of the 3M plastic repair epoxy to get it all smoothed out.

I may still shift the rear axle rearward if I can figure out how to extend the brake cables. I would like it to be centered in the wheel opening just a little better but kinda stuck because of the brake cable issue.

Yesterday I stripped everything off the frame to get it ready for sandblasting. Going to see how my 120 pound pressure blaster will do. I kinda like the polished look a ricecake disc gives the bare metal. thought about going over the entire frame and then having it powder coated clear. Think I will do the frame in black and rice cake the controls arms and rear axle tubes and clear coat them.

So far this is as blown apart as I have had this cart!

Everything is looking great! Widening the body and polishing the frame is some tedious work but you are getting it done!!

I got the frame back from media blaster this week. The schools air compressor and air delivery system could not push enough volume for the sandblaster I purchased this year to work properly. The blasting shop used aluminum oxide as the media and it gives the metal a very smooth but ready to paint surface profile.
