04 TXT PDS Build Thread
Well I managed to wrangle a $500 gem off of a local golf cart shop in order to start a rebuild for my wife and girls to have a neighborhood cruiser. Reality is I will probably use it much more than they do! So far I have the cart stripped down and am almost ready to begin prepping the frame for paint. I have read quite a few build threads about using POR15, and the success you all have had with it. My question is, how much do I need to do the frame? As always, thanks for the feedback!
Here some pics of the progress through last weekend. I will post some more pics after I remove the dash, pressure wash and sand the frame! |

$500 heck of a deal. What are your plans. I wouldn't think more than a quart. Maybe a quart and a pint.

Re: 04 TXT PDS Build Thread
As far as the plans for the cart, I ordered a 5" AllSports Drop Axle Lift and Heavy Duty Rear Springs on Saturday. Below is my Parts List:
New Body 80" Roof DoubleTake Sentry Dash New seats In order to get the speed up Scotty B recommended converting to 42v and upgrading to the Alltrax XCT400 with fan. Since I'm upgrading the controller, I am going to go to 2g cables. Additionally, I'll add Scotty's Voltage Reducer package and a volt meter. The batteries were shot so I will be replacing those and purchasing a DPI charger as well. |

I have the same cart and will be doing tear down and rebuild as well. You got a steal at 500. I paid 1400 for the same thing. I will be watching this build for sure! Cant wait to see how this one comes along. Cheers.

Re: 04 TXT PDS Build Thread
good buy! I bought an '03 pds last year for $600. I did a total frame up restore on it, and used POR 15. Great stuff! Check out my build thread below. Just posted the most up to date picture after having new seat vinyl and stereo installed. I also want an 80" top. I think the extended tops look much better.

Re: 04 TXT PDS Build Thread
I don't recall exactly but I believe I used around 3 of the small 4 oz cans. The stuff go's a long way. I am pretty sure that if you buy a pint you should be ok. Just make sure you put lid on good, and put in fridge between coats to prevent it from drying up. Follow their prep instructions and you should have a good outcome.

Re: 04 TXT PDS Build Thread
If you do get the Pint Can, before sealing it, place wax paper over the top, then put the lid on, it will make it easier to re-open later.
