Re: Yamaha G1 Diesel Swap Kubota D722-TE turbo
I found a whole G2 cart W/O engine for $400 on my local Craigslist. Going to contact the owner tomorrow.

Re: Yamaha G1 Diesel Swap Kubota D722-TE turbo
PROGRESS!!! So here is the G1 as of today. 12" lift is finished. Widened the front wheel base by 7" and moved them 3" forward. Boxed out the frame on the passenger side and cut out original frame to accommodate longer 3 cylinder Kubota and radiator. Moved the rear wheels back 3" and will install 3" wheel spacers on each side so rear stance matches the front.
Fabricating the engine mounts and hopefully setting the engine in the frame by the end of the weekend! |

Re: Yamaha G1 Diesel Swap Kubota D722-TE turbo
looks like you've solved the engine height problem. You should have plenty of room now.
I'm enjoying your project and photos. How did you get the photos to post right side up? |

Working on the steering linkage now. Didn't want to extend the arm on the steering box down because then you loose some mechanical advantage by lengthening the lever arm. And since I will be running 27" tires I will need to keep all the mechanical advantage I can. I'll post pics tomorrow of the steering mods. |

Re: Yamaha G1 Diesel Swap Kubota D722-TE turbo
I hope you plan too use more bracing on the rear where the front of your swing arm mounts. I thought mine had plenty (And mine wasn't near as tall as yours) and first trip to the trails I broke a main weld and then had to add more bracing.
Looking good though, when do you start the engine install? |

Re: Yamaha G1 Diesel Swap Kubota D722-TE turbo
Funny you should mention that smokindawg. Just this last weekend I was doing exactly that, adding bracing to both front and rear drops. Have not braced the rear shock drop mounts yet but I will brace them to the rear box tube. Also finished the steering arm risers. I didn't want to extend the gear box arm down because I didn't want to loose any mechanical advantage in the steering since I am going to eventually have 27" tires on it. For now I have a set of Mazda Miata rims and tires on it until I can afford the Kenda Executioners.

Re: Yamaha G1 Diesel Swap Kubota D722-TE turbo
I will be finishing up the steering tonight (cutting and lengthening the steering links) and the engine install will begin tomorrow. Here are some pics of the engine on the hoist just waiting to get dropped into place. I replaced the 24V 20A alternator with a 12V 60A unit. Put cvt adapter plate on it and installed the Comet Duster 94C. It originally had this long tube oil fill neck that extended from the front of the injection pump housing off to the left that I had to replace with a block off plate I made from some .125" plate because it would have hit the frame. First pic shows oil fill tube on engine. Also installed the ignition switch.
