charger 8v - recommendations please
Hello all,
I tried to do a search on "8V Charger" on the forum and got a database error 408 message. So if this has been covered before I apologize. I have a 48v cart with 8V batteries. The cart works well, but I did notice that some of the batteries have a fully charged voltage that is as much as 0.4v less than some of my other batteries in the pack. I was thinking that maybe I could put an 8v charger on the lower batteries and see if they will charge up the rest of the way. To that end, I searched and couldn't find a charger for a single 8V battery for a reasonable price. All had 4 digits IN FRONT of the decimal! $$$$.$$ Is this a fool's errand or does an 8V charger exist that is reasonable in price? What would be best is a charger that can do 8V or 12V, but I guess that's really getting ahead of myself... Any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks! Joe |

Re: charger 8v - recommendations please
It's not a common item, use a 12v charger at 2 AMPS only. carefully monitor battery voltage and temperature. Battery temperature should not rise more than 10° and voltage should not exceed 10v at any time.
45 minutes is probably all the time this will take. |

Re: charger 8v - recommendations please
There are a couple of 8V chargers out there that would be perfect to balancing the 8V batteries in your 48V pack.
They are both multistage chargers with automatic cutoff and float, so you don't have to babysit them like you have to with a 12V-2A charger. Battery Tender Plus 8V:

Battery Minder 12106A-8V: http://www.batteryminders.com/copy-o...r-12106-aa-00/ You can find both for about $50 with some on-line searching. |
