Default Precedent field coil problem

I broke the field stud off on my motor when upgrading to 2 gauge cables so I got a new brass bolt to replace it. I removed the old bolt from the field coil wires then soldered them to the new bolt and reinstalled it in the motor with the insulator in place. Now my cart won't move either direction. I have a tsx 3.0 controller and it shows correct direction and the solenoid is opening and closing correctly. I also can see that when I press the pedal I have 51 volts for the field but no field current. Do I just not have a good connection to the field wires? Everything worked fine before I broke the original stud
