Re: Programming Curtis Controller
In case it helps anyone...
I bought a 1229-3101 off Ebay for £35... liquidated stock. Read all of this thread and bought a FT232R based RS232 cable. After following all the suggestions on here and having no luck in communicating with the 1229 I put all of the cables settings back to 'as shipped' and it all started working! I am using the 1314-4401 software. It communicates at 57600 baud. It will throw a checksum error every now and again when trying to connect but once connected its fine. |

Re: Programming Curtis Controller
FTDI ( UART ) TTL cables require that the signal be inverted RS232 doesn't .

Re: Programming Curtis Controller
Boat. Not a buggy but can't find anywhere else with as much know how as this place.
My boat has a diesel engine driving a hydraulic pump which drives a remote hydraulic motor connected to the prop shaft. I have an ME 0708 motor and a Curtis 1229 controller with which to replace the diesel engine. My question is I am going to use a potentiometer as throttle control with its center position (50%) as off. Can the controller be set up such that the motor direction is the same whether the pot' is turned up or down? So pot' at 100% gives motor at 100% clockwise and setting the pot to 0% also gives motor at 100% clockwise? The hydraulic motor direction will be changed with a directional valve. Please remove post if it is deemed inappropriate for this forum. |

Boat on the Grand Union Canal?
I cannot think of a way to achieve what you want with the various programming options ...I could however probably program an Arduino mini to interface between the wig wag throttle pot and the controller that would do this for you. Note that I am fairly close to you in Bedford. |

Re: Programming Curtis Controller
Hi Woody. River Nene, Earls Barton. Thanks for the response. I couldn't see a way for the controller to do it either. Thought I'd check in case I had missed something like combining 2 wig wag inputs.
Thanks for the offer of doing the Arduino. I have some somewhere and do programming for a living so should be OK. |

Re: Programming Curtis Controller
Paul ...I had a think and this seems to work.
Feed both ends of a 5k pot with 5v ... add a 1.3k resistor to the wiper and supply this resistor with 0v... wiper output now swings 5v - 2.5v - 5v . Woody |

Re: Programming Curtis Controller
Hey guys! YOU GUYS ROCK!!! Lol. Thanks to everyone on their contributions. Once a guy can actually get through all 1649 posts prior to his... Its quite easy to get to factory level and make some changes. Which have been super fun!!
So I have 2 questions: No.1 Can someone send me Developer level Registry? Please No.2 Does anyone have any info on these Curtis 1515-5201 controllers? I can't seem to find any. From what I can tell they are VERY similar to another controller but the parameters layout is different and the definitions are different. ANY help would be great! Thanks |

Re: Programming Curtis Controller
Hey guys,
I'm working on a friends CC DS with the spind (star) MCOR. He bought a programmable 5201 controller w/ cable but his original was a 5251. What changes do I need to make with the programmer to the 5201. It does not recognize the throttle input. It does recognize the throttle switch. Thanks, Steve |
