Default Re: Charging different brand batteries with ERIC charger?

Thanks for the help. Dusted off the old Windows machine, downloaded the software program, and yes my charger was set at #31. I downloaded the #3 algorithm and plugged it in the charger. Then after it was done I put the USB back in the computer and it read it was using #3 now.

You guys are a wealth of knowledge on here. Great forum.

Figured I'd ask, why aren't ppl replacing with the original PD+ batteries? Is there a specific reason why not to? I have my original 2016 PD+ batteries, 2+ years on my Alltrax controller. Just curious to know when needing replacements after 5 years. Am I better off with Trojans and changing the charger algorithm?

Cause most people don't get that long out of the. You're way above average.

I guess I'll consider myself lucky then. Thanks for the input.

Hoping to get an update on this thread.
Have a similar issue with Powertron p8000s (made by Trjoan) and ERIC charger with factory default #256 algorithm. Seemed to be overcharging with need for lots of water every 2 weeks.

Just changed to algo #3 but still noticed some boil over, etc. after first couple of charges (and water levels are correct).

Saw in another thread there was a Club Car algorithm #188 (not DeltaQ) that was designed by CC for Trojan batteries.

Anyone have any experience with this algo ?

I'm in the same boat - saw this thread and got curious. My charger needs to have the software updated, but I need to keep alg 256 until I buy Trojans. I have a zip file from another thread with the software update and alg 3 (for trojans) - wondering if I can run that one for awhile until I do finally ditch the PD Plus.

I was able to do the algorithm update (from #256 to #3) even thought I have the "older" software (v 4.3.7.264) on my ERIC. The post with the zip file said it would not work, but I had no problem. I actually did a first update to algo #1 but did get the error message on the IDAT software about temp sensor, so then changed to #3 (which is the non-temp compensated algo for Trojans as the OEM ERIC from Club Car apparently does not have the temp sensor).

I have been reluctant to do the software update from that zip file as I don't have any kind of back up to revert back to the current version if something goes wrong and don't want a DOA charger.

Does anyone know what is "improved" in the newer software (v 4.7. and is it worth upgrading? Thanks.

Also, anyone have ANY experience with the Club Car #188 algorithm?

My next batteries will be lithium. Anyone know which algorithm would be best with them?

There are different Lithium chemistries and each requires a different charge voltage per cell / profile.
