Default voltage meter and key switch acting weird.

ok so i have a voltage meter with 3 wires. one is ground, one is the measure the voltage wire, and one is coming off the the key switch to turn it on.
when i hook it directly to the battery it reads right (currently @ 50.88v) when i hook it up to the key switch to it reads right for a second and the it off by 2v or so.

ill try to attach a video of what it is doing.

could the key switch have some issue of being old?

i bought another volt meter thinking mine was bad or had some quality control issues but i got the same result with new one.

I'd run dedicated wires from pack - and pack + for measuring, and just use the key switch to turn it on and off. Use an in-line fuse on one of the two wires.

You could have that much resistance in the switch.

ACtually i already have that.

i have two wires direct from pack that wire directly in the volt meter and then
one wire off the key switch. when i measure the voltage with a DVM i have 50.88 at those 2 wires. i lose voltage at the switch.

will a new key switch have less resistance?

Pack + goes through the reed switch and MS-2 before it gets to the key switch.

Every switch you read the pack through has the potential to reduce the reading.

There are also spade connectors at each switch, which could also add some resistance. If you check the voltage at each point, you may find a single point that's adding the resistance, or you may find a little at each point. That could help decide a plan of attack, rather than replacing random parts.

EDIT: When I say "adding resistance", that's just another way of saying "dropping the voltage".

If you have a handheld DMM, connect the minus to pack - and place the positive probe on the pack +, + inside the charger port (this is one side of the reed switch), the spade connector coming from the reed switch (reed switch is inside the charger port), both sides of MS-2, (which is on the FNR), then both sides of the key switch.
