Default Changing Rings

I have an EZGO with a EH292CE. My daughter ran it dry of oil. After adjusting the valves and putting in new oil and filter, it ran fine again. However, it is now using a lot of oil. Do I have to remove the entire engine to change the rings? Thans!

Well you dont have to, but it would probably take you 10 times longer fighting the constraints of being in the cart. I would pull it. I pull them out and on the bench in less than 30 minutes. First timer maybe an hour. You will appreciate the accessibility and be able to do a much better job.

If it was run low on oil there is probably also galling on the crankshaft, cylinders are likely scored and may need to be overbored so it would need to be removed to take to the machine shop anyway. Also may have issues with the camshaft journals in the head.

The extent of the damage depends on how low and how long it was run low on oil. But regardless it’s gonna need more than just rings. Rods too at a minimum
