Default Precedent wiring question

I have a 2015 Precedent with the white 1515 controller. I am putting on a new Alpha body and a Kicker stereo dash. I am struggling to find the best way to wire up the Reliance 48v-12v reducer (part 13-030) that I am putting behind the dash (it does not fit on the frame in the default place but I bet this big reducer does not get too hot and I will place it in the dash).

The harness I got with the body and the videos from Madjax don't fully match up and instructions are missing. Its a bit of a mess but I figured out what each wire goes to. Of course it requires 12v and I have 6x8v batteries plus I don't like to feed stuff of one or two batteries. hence the converter/reducer.

I am trying to avoid to run new 48v and ground cables up to the dash. Can I reuse the +48v in the unused GPS connector behind the dash to power the reducer? Can it handle the power for led and stereo? I assume this is feed trough the controller as I don't see a connector for it in the battery well, maybe its also running trough the controller and have a max output. I measure a 12v in that connector to, somehow the controller must be able to supply 12v - does anyone know anything about this and its capacity?

If the GPS power is a bad idea, can I use the 48v from the diagnosics port? I don't see much use for it in the future.

Any other ideas? Or am I just lazy and should run new 48v and ground up to the dash/converter.

Default Re: Precedent wiring question

Running the proper gauge wire from the pack to the dash is easy and the right way to do it, in my opinion. After the reducer, a fused distribution block is convenient.
