Default Can anyone tell me...

My old KF82 had a low oil light. A single yellow wire came from the crankcase to the light on the dash (I believe). My clone has a low oil cut off sensor in the crankcase. A yellow wire comes out of the crankcase and goe to the kill switch. I’m assuming the clone sensor wire is a ground which kills the motor? Does the wire to the KF82 low oil light work the same way? Low oil causes the sensor to create a ground which provides a ground to the light on the dash thus illuminating the light? Inquiring minds want to know?

Well...I possess a maintenance manual for 1988-1991 DS gas golf carts and I was able to answer my own question. From the service manual: “The oil light picks up power from the key switch only when the key is turned to the “on” position. When the oil level in the crank case becomes low, the oil sending unit will complete the low oil warning circuit to GROUND and illuminate the light.” So the power to the light comes from the key switch, and the oil sensor provides the ground when the oil gets low. In a clone it would kill the motor, in my 89 Carryall, it illuminates he low oil light. So I can plug the wire from my clone low oil sensor into the wire for my low oil warning light, and it will work the same as the original motor.
