Default Torque Wrench What do you recommend

My inch lb. torque broke on me I have had it for quite a while. It was a Dial type. What would be a good replacement.

Thanks Terry

Personally, it depends on what your plans are with it.

I have the 1/4”, 3/8” & 1/2” torque wrench from Harbor Freight and have no complaints.

Regardless if you get a HF or Snap-On they both should be calibrated. Rule of thumb is every 5000 cycles or 12months. Store them with the adjustments loose. There plenty videos showing how to calibrate them on You Tube.

In have a pair of neikos dial type that I use for inch Lbs. #1 goes from 0-80 and #2 goes from 0-800. For the bigger #'s I use a HF unit. I still have my old craftsman dial unit from when I was a teenager. I used it to make sure the big HF unit was dead on.

Back in the day I used a Snap-on dial torque wrench when I was building engines. I just liked the dial type were I could see what torque I was applying.

i bought a Tekton ( Model 24320) from Amazon. I use it for the same purpose as you. It has very high reviews on Amazon and across the Internet. Cost about $45.00.

Thanks CC, I checked the wrench out on Amazon. I am going with that one. I have look at a lot of torque wrenches the past few days could never decide.

When I was working it was just a few name brands that made quality tools that you could relay on and have life time warranty but now everybody is in the game.
