Re: Yamaha Speed Spring
Heres the thing...like spriddle said..whats the difference between this and running straight to the carb with the throttle cable. I really cant say because I have never done the carb mod. I can say that the spring did give us alot more speed by itself and it went even faster with the governer nut tightened. Next week we will radar it and see what the top speed is.

Re: Yamaha Speed Spring
I lost pretty much all low speed control when i bypassed the governor, I got sick of it not being able to just putt along and hooked it back up, I will think about ordering one now if you can still go slow.

Re: Yamaha Speed Spring
Are you sure your linkage underneath the floorboard was right? Maybe you needed to adjust the cable a little more towards the gas pedal?

Re: Yamaha Speed Spring
It looked right, closed all the way and opened very smoothly, if I can get it to run slower i will just not buy the new governor parts. ( I am replacing the input shaft)

Re: Yamaha Golf Cart Speed Spring
LOL,,,,, HEY ROADY IS THAT FAST ENOUGH...LOL I BET THE ELECTRICS ARE NOT FASTER ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!
The springs do come with instructions and they are now painted. Roady the one you recieved was the prototype so it was not painted and I had not typed up instructions yet. YOU were SUPPOSED to test it way back when I sent it to you. LOL To give you guys a idea of what makes it better than gov bypass 1. Slow speed operation is just like factory. 2. Top speed can be adjusted with a 10mm wrench, In case you want to slow it down for the kids. 3. If you do have to have dealer service its not so obvious its altered. it can also be removed in 10 minutes 4. Acceleraton pedal operation is just like stock, (Not super sensative) The cart does still have the ability to use the governor and help maintain engine integrity. Us gearheads have to realize not everybody is capable of running a non governed engine and keeping it one piece. I can't tell you how many calls I get every month how somebody on some forum told me how to bypass governor and disconnect rev limiter and my kid drove it around the block 2 laps floored, Now I need a engine!! |

Re: Yamaha Golf Cart Speed Spring
Sorry Tom...Yes Tom sent me a prototype to test but at the time I was EXTREMELY busy at work. Anyways...The spring DOES work a little too well IMO.
The stock spring on the G22 was zinc plated. If this one was zinc plated no one could tell the difference at all. |
