Default Driving and heard a pop, then

I have a 2010 LSV that has been setting for about two years. I put new batteries in it and the speedometer quit last weekend. I was trying to knock the cobs out driving in town and heard a pop and smelled burning. Then nothing. The volt meter drops when I step on the foot feet, but nothing moves. Hard to push it back home, but looking for things to try.
