Default Need more torque on 6:1 gears

Have a 2001 EZGO Series TXT. Upgraded to Alltrax SPM48500 controller with 1/0 cables. Changed stock gears to 6:1. Running 12" rims with (205-35-12) tires. about 18.5" just a tad bigger than stock tires. Converted to 48 volts. Using the high speed AMD Raptor Motor 7126. Using ScottyB's huge solenoid and heavy duty F&R switch. Still having a little issue from the 0-5mph take off. Once it hits 10mph it will put you back in the seat pretty good. Max speed I hit on flat land was 45mph using GPS. I live in a somewhat hilly-large subdivision and climbing my driveway from a dead stop doesn't work so well. Thinking this high speed motor is the weak link in the setup. What motor would you recommend? I was checking out the D&D 170-010-0002 and figured the more suggestions the better.

Just my opinion but I think the 6:1 gears has more to do with your lack of torque issue than anything else.

Gears for sure maybe motor, you might need a speed torque from d+d. A call to plumquick may help too. I am sure others will chime in. You may want to think 8.1 for more torque. I am a PDS cart and the 8.1 gears have been real nice. Plenty of both speed and torque, max 35, thats still a little fast for me. I upgraded to Jake's long travel to get rid of the squirrel front and added discs to stop. How do you stop that thing at 45.

Rear disc conversion.

Talked to D&D. Vick said he can make a motor but i'll lose about 10 mph. 35 would still be nice but I was hitting 30mph with just this motor on 48 volts and stock gears so looking to be around 40mph max.

Just looking for that extra torque from 0-5mph. 8:1 gears isn't out of the option but would it really help that much?

As I have heard time and again reading through hundreds of threads. There is always a trade off with sparky carts. I am looking at an rxv that is a deal for sure, garaged kept and driven minimally in the hood, not a course cart for cheap. I have not pulled the trigger because of gears. They are 16.99_1 stock and to get it to 25 will take 13.99_1. I have to find someone with one to check out the torque loss. I plan bigger tires with 14,s. Good luck and keep us informed.

the only thing that increases torque and speed is voltage

Trust me, I'd love to convert to 72 Volts. But not trying to spend that money right now. lol

Who programed the controller? Do you know what the throttle position settings are?

EV Drives programmed it, I tweaked it a little. Peak AMPS the controller is giving the motor was 590 from a dead stop.

Maybe I'm just hung up on the throttle response you indicated. I'm assuming you aren't getting any trouble codes. Have you checked the linearization of the throttle?
