Default Curtis controller replacement

Hi guys
I may need to replace the controller for my Club Car DS and I have a question relating to the MCOR signal/resistance. I understand that there are two different kinds of controllers - some operate on 0-5000 ohm input and others are 5000-0 ohms.

I believe my Curtis model is 1204-410 and this seems to be a 5k-0 model. The problem is that the 0-5k model is cheaper (at least here in Oz)...

So my question is why can't I use the 0-5k unit and simply swap over the two leads that come from the potentiometer inside the MCOR?

I think this should work...

Be careful of cheapo knock-off controllers. They may just eat your money. Check with our site sponsors and compare their prices. No reason those controllers should be different prices.

If you do decide to go that route, Sergio has an old post about switching the wires to get the correct throttle range for 0-5k from the MCOR. It’s not perfect because the MCOR doesn’t truly get to 0 ohms, but I believe it’s close enough for most applications. If you have trouble with the throttle after making that change you may have to add in another resistor to bring the throttle signal into the correct range.

Also remember that the reverse circuit has a resistor it so it slows reverse speed. If you change the throttle over that will quit working.
