Default Yamaha G2 starter generator

Just recently started having starting issues, will click when the pedal is pressed but won't turnover. Being frustrated i tapped on it and it fired right up. So my question is how difficult is it to rebuild one or can you even rebuild one of these?

Take apart, clean & wire brush the wire contact points: battery, solenoid, Starter/ generator. Hot side and grounds (old Yamahas have a history of bad grounds). Sometimes that "tap" wiggles a poor connection.

You can just pull the rubber piece out of the S/G and see how worn the brushes are.

Yeah, brushes probably need replaced. You can replace the entire brush holder assembly for under $50. This will get you all new springs and brushes. Photo is attached but I am not sure that it's for your exact cart. If not, it will look similar.

That is the kind of part I used on my G 14's SG a few years ago. Pretty sure I bought it off E Bay
