Battery cable gauge for conversion
I am converting to lithium. I had planned on using my stock battery cables with the Eco Battery 51v @ 102a with stock Curtis 250a controller and stock DC motor. I don't see a need to swap to all 4G cable. Does anyone else?

Re: Battery cable gauge for conversion
do you plan to upgrade your controller or motor in the future... if so I would highly recommend upgrading the cables now as the larger cables can handle higher amperage with less resistance aka heat. If your gonna stay all stock or not put on larger tires or anything you most likely would be ok staying stock but cables are cheap in the larger picture... :)

Re: Battery cable gauge for conversion
I do plan to, but not for a year, the battery was costly enough. Overall, I am fine with upgrading the cables. I have the cart mostly apart, after some body work / battery tray replacement etc. But for the simple pleasure of having a working cart, I wanted to make sure the stock cables would get me and the fam around the neighborhood in the mean time.

The stock cables will work with the stock controller and motor... but in the future the upgrade is worth it.

Re: Battery cable gauge for conversion
Potentially a cautionary tale on this. I recently upgraded to 3 12v lithiums and my cables running to the selector switch from the motor are really heating up. It does run fine, but I'm not sure how long that will last. If you can go ahead and upgrade those, I might recommend it. I have the latest post in the forum with my issue for reference.

It's important to have the right ends on the cables for the terminals you are connecting to. The terminal connections have to be good and tight. When I converted my cart, I ordered cables with the proper ends to fit the terminals on my Leaf Cells.
