Default epoch = roypow?

anyone know if epoch batteries are made by roypow?
I would really rather have three 12v in series for my 36v ezgo but read that is not a good idea, I'm not sure why BMS conflict?
anyway, I want a 36v cart battery to install myself.
epoch is within driving distance and will sell to individuals.
I haven't found much about them but have seen a video by will prowse about a roypow battery that he likes and it sure looks like an epoch?
anyway, anybody have anything to say about epoch?
good, bad,or ugly thanks for your thoughts!
john

Hi John,

You really don’t want 3 x 12v batteries. Myself and others have explained here in detail as to the reasons why so I don’t want to re-write it again but it is summarised in the post linked to below. See my post which was actually in reply to the same question you posted back in February and answered your question specifically. Are you asking the same question again hoping for a different answer? At the end of the day, purchase what you like but you have been warned.

I made it very clear why.

Anyhow, I have no idea if Roypow = epoch. You can't go by looks alone as many lithium batteries look very similar.

Cheers
Pat.

Just my personal opinion but I'd steer clear of the NMC options and go for the safer, longer lasting lifepo4 batteries.

There are a lot of the same generic cases out there so you will see different batteries that look the same but arent.

Well, After dealing in lithium cells for 10 years.. and researched the cells,
its not my opinion that matters , but the 3000+ cycle life per specs which is about the same as LiFepo4. You will see all kinds of inflated claims for cycle life to 10+ years, etc... IT all depends on how the battery is treated, DOD, temps,
As for safety.. absolutely no difference in the new NMC type compared to LFP type. Using the right charger eliminates any concerns on that. going rate now is $2500 for both types in the 48V , 100Ah market. Personally, I cant lift 95 lbs.

NMC is good enough for most EV's on the market so they are fine if treated well and protected with a good BMS. Cycle life isn't an issue with either type if treated well. All of my Lithium experience is with NMC and they have worked well for me in my RC models as well as in my two carts. (not to mention my Iphone and various other home Appliances)

thanks LM,
I never thought my old lead batteries would last this long, well into the 6th year now.
still not dead but need to look and plan for replacements probably sooner than later.
