Re: New to golf carts.....Club Car 18hp Vanguard
Definitely bypass the transaxle governor. Definitely disable the engine governor.
The Vanguard with cam and rev kit should have enough power off idle to peel grass and spray gravel with ease. Top speed is a factor of tire size and gearing, but most carts with that engine and 22" tires should go 30+ mph easily. My 16 powered G1 would do 40 if I pushed the rpm limit. Golf carts at high speeds can be very dangerous. A properly tuned suspension and good brakes are a must. I am in favor of front disc brakes as well. |

Re: New to golf carts.....Club Car 18hp Vanguard
I am not looking to set any land speed records, just a good top cruising speeds and some get up and go. 90% of the use will be inside a seasonal campground but there are plenty of offroad trails near by. And we also have a big car cruise every august that basically as long as you arent being an idiot you can cruise anything street legal or not. It does have 22" tires on it and the 8:1 gearing as well.
Thanks for the info, i will be bypassing that governor very soon! |
