Carb help
93 DS FE290
The engine was recently rebuilt and i have everything back together. It seems to be running well. the carb was taken apart and cleaned before reinstalling. The carb has a steady drip of gas coming from the nipple on the top of the carb (bowl over flow?). Not sure how to address this. ideas are welcome? |

Re: Carb help
At the top of the carb? That’s the vent. If it’s coming out of there then check to make sure the float and needle are installed and seated correctly.
With the carb removed and the bowl off, Use a new piece of fuel line in the fuel supply inlet nipple. With the carb upright you should be able to blow through the hose. Turn the carb upside down, the float should be pretty much level with the base of the carb and you should NOT be able to blow through the hose no matter how hard you try. If you can blow through it then the needle is not seating and it’s gonna flood |

Re: Carb help
I can blow through with it right side up, and can’t with it upside down. I cleaned and reinstalled. Still have gas coming out the vent.

Re: Carb help
I’d take it apart and give it a good cleaning again. Make sure you didn’t get something wedged in somewhere. Make sure to blow out every hole and oriface you can find with compressed air. A blow tip with a rubber nipple on the end works wonders. Make sure no sand or dirt made it’s way into the float needle or seat. All it takes is one spec of sand
Rebuild kits really don’t provide anything useful except for fresh gaskets. the rest of the parts are jets and stuff that you should be able to clean relatively easily |

Re: Carb help
What fuel pump are you using ?
Some pumps will overwhelm the float needle. Richard |
