Default 3d printed carburetor adapter project

I have never been happy with the ex-go carburetor on my ParCar. To make it work I in welded the cup to the face of carb because at the time no one produced an adapter to make the 3 screw cup work on the 2 screw carburetor.

Recently I’ve had issues with that carb not opening all the way up at full throttle and I wanted to try out a different carburetor so I got to thinking I have a 3d printer surely someone has made this adapter. The answer is no! I have a 3d printer now and did not when I got the cart. I’ve never designed a print and am not even that good printing them compared to others that are really dedicated to that hobby but I set out to figure out how to make one.

In my quest last night I found a print for a Kawasaki that looked perfect but was too big. Somehow I was able to figure out how to scale it down to where the center hole and the outside were almost perfect but left the screw holes 4mm off from hitting the mark. I did go ahead and print one though just to make sure it will fit the air tube.

Next steps are to learn how to move the screw holes out a couple mm and I think it will be almost perfect. When I’m done I’ll upload the file as a remix to this guys original work and anyone will be able to download the file. I intended to print the final version in PETG plastic as it has some heat and chemical resistance and isn’t as toxic to print as abs. Really anyone with a printer will be able to do this easily and should help us fellow carpet guys out. The alternative is a $30 square adapter on eBay or a $70 bullet adapter on eBay. This thing will likely cost a dollar or 2 at most to prin depending on how much infill is used.

Still working through this, however I think there may be size limitations in doing it in one piece. I have a friend helping me now.

I was able to size up the print so where the holes line up but to have room for the heads of the bolts needed to secure it make the throat almost too large and the walls will be somewhat thin in that area.

I'm leaning now more to a 2 piece design. Similar to what's offered today. Ebay sells adapter plates to use the factory cup. The factory cup is no longer available and Kraft sold the very last one they have.

The two piece design would be a printed flat plate where the cup would attach to it and bolt to the carb. I'm having lunch with my buddy tomorrow so we'll see where that leads us. I have zero experience in cad or cad type 3d software. I just want to create a simple deal that all of us can use. I will make it available to the community after it's completed so that anyone here could use it.

I have one question and that is, will the print hold up to gas?

Petg is gas/oil resistant. One could print in abs to make it better. Its not getting soaked in fuel so should hold up fine.

So my buddy drew me something up today. Pretty sure it's proportions are out of whack. It's currently printing so we'll see in the next half hour if I need to have him do some changes. Progress anyhow.

I don't have it 100% yet. Spent the summer working on a 71 f100. I'm getting back on it this week hopefully.
