Default Scored at the auto salvage yard

I have. 95 parcar. I had some time to kill this afternoon and hit a new junkyard on my way home from being out of town. Tons of vehicles of all vintages. But what I didn’t know was they have atv’s and motorcycles. Amongst the atvs was a stripped out par car!

I snagged an elusive top. Mine didn’t have a top, or a lid as my daughter calls it. It also had good seat backs and about 3/4 of the engine including an electric ignition so I snagged that and it still had the muffler and pipes. My middle tube is bad so I grabbed all the tubes and the muffler since they are super rare as well. With a few auto parts I was out the door for 200 ish.

I now have 2 spare engines and probably enough parts to totally rebuild one of them (fan is bad on one ). Parts are so hard to find in my area it’s nice to have a parts hoard.

I got everything installed tonight including new overload springs and shocks.

There just isn’t enough of them. Compared to ezgo and others there are very few of these. At least here anyway. I’ll try to keep this one going as long as I can. It was my late daughters. I traded her go kart for it a couple years before she passed.

Yeah, pretty much I snag every old Par Car I come across for that very reason. They can be had for cheap, most often in my case it's simply the effort it takes me to load it onto a trailer.

I have found that most of the "common" parts for these carts are still around; pistons, cylinders, brakes and such. It's whenever you get to the more obscure things like cranks and such that things get scarce.

That’s exactly why I snagged the motor too. The fan is at least usable on this one unlike my other spare motor. I never thought I’d find decent exhaust either. If I had more tools or my truck I would have grabbed the nose and seat box as well. The nose did have a crack but it was better than nothing. I was limited on tools and it’s really not worth the 2 hour drive back just for that.

I was in the area again in July and with my truck this time so I swung in to see if it was still there. Sure enough it was. I grabbed the nose and the rear section of the body this time as well as a few other odds and ends. Basically the frame is all that's left now. The rear section is nicer than the one I have so when I paint my cart I'll use it. The nose is pretty good except for one small broken piece at the bottom. I have that piece so I can glass it back together and possibly use it when I paint as well.

Installed the electronic module into my cert today and crazy enough it fired right up. Pulled the timing light out and got it dialed right in. Totally worth snagging the parts.

Your ParCar journey reminds me of this Johnny Cash song:
