![]() Anyone have any instructions on replacing the crank seal on a 1993 par car? I have spark but it won't fire even on starting fluid. I was told that it is most likely the crank seal.

![]() There are actually 2 crank seals, one is under the fan and the other is under the primary clutch. With both, you just have to remove what's covering them. With regard to the clutch it's simply removing the clutch and the seal is right there. The fan side has a bit more stuff to take off but it's still the same idea. I find it easier to remove the engine for this work but it might be possible with the motor in.
Regarding the seals themselves, CAREFULLY drill a hole in the side of the seal. There are crank bearing directly beneath them so don't go nuts with things. Screw a sheet metal screw into the hole that you just drilled and pull it with some pliers. It will pop out easy enough. The ones will just tap in. You'll need a large socket or a short length of pipe or something to fit over the crank end to hit the new seal. Replacing the seals aren't all that tough but they take some time. |

![]() Hello everyone .
I am in the process of rebuilding a Columbia par car engine #20007-90. My problem is on the fan side of the crankshaft. I do not know how far to push the oil seal into the crankcase. I question this because there is a port hole that I see on the inside of the crankcase where the seal goes. When I look into this port hole I can see a small bit of the piston. Does the seal go on the inside or the outside of the hole? There is another seal on the outside where the fan shroud goes. I think this has something to do with the auto oiler pump that I will not be using. Does anyone have any idea what I am talking about? Thanks for any help |

![]() It still does not hold 10 lbs of pressure when I inject air into the spark plug. there is a third oils seal on the inside of the fan shroud case maybe it's that?

![]() Columbia engines for sure only had two seals, one under the primary clutch and one under the fan. I am not sure where the mix up is with your cart but the seal under the fan needs replaced for a seal job.
