Club Car Precedent Bouncy Ride

Just bought a 2007 Club Car Precedent (my 1st golf cart) and wasn't sure if a bouncy ride was common with these carts in standard form. It does have the rear seat and heavy duty springs front/rear. It also has the standard 8in turf tires with steel wheels. The bouncing is much more apparent the slower you go and changes to more of a fast vibration at top end....19-23 mph (thanks Speedy Link!). At any speed, it's too bouncy to sip a drink without it going everywhere.

The shocks look a little rough....do they play a large role in how smooth the cart rides?

One thing I did do was jack up the rear end and watch the wheels spin. I noticed a pretty significant wobble on both sides.....could they just be out of balance?

HD Leafs will do that, put in stock leafs or see if you can remove a leaf or two for a more forgiving ride.

HD leafs are bouncy. Also keep in mind that golf cart tires are not built for street use and I can guarantee you there's not a single "golf car" tire in this world that is round. They're all shaped like eggs, some are just worse than others.

I may try that. The cart is rarely loaded down anyway....just had the HD springs in back for the back seat. These springs have 4 leafs so maybe just remove the shortest one and see how she rides. Thanks for the advice!

Yeah those turf tires didn't look exactly symmetrical to me! I noticed too that the 4 lug holes aren't exactly centered either.....pretty smooth ride on the golf course though. I'll most likely trade up for some 10 or 12 inch street going rubber soon.

If the lug holes aren't centered you definitely have a serious issue. The problem doesn't lie within the rim. It's 100% tire.

Got new tires and wheels (12 x 6 with low profile tires) and made a HUGE improvement! Thanks again for all the feedback.

Great. A lot of your low profile tires are DOT approved, unlike golf car tires and should be a whole lot more true... You can have them balanced if you can find a tire shop that will do it with such a small tire/wheel combo and it'll make it even smoother.

Even though these new tires are smoother than the standard turf tires, there is still a little "knock." You can even see it in the steering wheel....barely. It speeds up and slows down with the cart speed so I'm assuming it's in the tire. It's almost like there's a heavy spot in the tire and it thuds on each rotation when it hits it. Does that sound strange? I noticed that these new tires are "not intended for highway use" either.

If they don't have DOT stamped on them, i'm not surprised. They're probably not perfectly round either, but better than your stock tires. You can try slightly lower air pressure to absorb some of the "knock"
