Re: 2001 Club Car Charger Won't kick off
It is more important and relevant to test these batteries 12 hours after the charger has been shut off.
It is one thing to bring a battery up to 9v but does you little good if the battery can not retain the charge. What type of SG meter do you use? Float balls or floating needle. |

I will try that tomorrow. It is a floating needle. Which is better?

Re: 2001 Club Car Charger Won't kick off
The floating needle! Those floating ball hydrometers are good for antifreeze, not batteries.
What you are looking for with a hydrometer is variation in specific gravity between cells and between batteries. Any variation of .050 from cell to cell in the same battery is suspect. Any battery to battery difference of .100 is a problem. Post Voltage (8.39 0r 8.23 etc.) For each battery and SG readings per cell if you like? |

Re: 2001 Club Car Charger Won't kick off
Will one of the newer chargers work as well? The smaller ones club car uses now. I'm going to try a third charger and see what happens.

Re: 2001 Club Car Charger Won't kick off
So heres the deal. Last night I changed the breaker in the charger back to the old one since it was only pulling 10 amps the breaker did not kick. I just went and checked the charger and it had shut off and the breaker wasn't tripped. So maybe I was just given a bad breaker or the wrong breaker as it was different than the original but the guy at the dealer said that is what Club Car replaced them with.

Re: 2001 Club Car Charger Won't kick off
ok so as of now all is working right? glad to hear it...........if your breaker isn,t tripping than it should be ok but if your leary about it try and find an exact match.....sometimes people try and sell you stuff and tell you it will work when they don,t know what they are talking about thats why i won,t buy from ebay........at least now you can take your time and get the right breaker, all this crap over a breaker do me a favor slap the dummy who sold you it................................

Yeah I know and it was a club car dealer. The breaker I was given is for the new chargers. The older style is different but they said it would work. Who knows.
