Default 2003 DS surges

i have a 2003 DS cart that runs along with fluctuating speed. At first i thought it might be just dirty cables (they were disgusting) so i cleaned the terminals and installed all new cables .I also tested the batteries and they are all in great shape.
when your driving along with the throttle depressed all the way the cart runs fine but the speed fluctuates . Just like driving a car that starves for fuel!
there is no stalling and no clicking from the solenoid .I thought at first that it might be the MCOR but with the pedal mashed to the floor it still surges
could it be the speed sensor ??? it is a Regen system
Is there a test port on the controller ? there is a big black plastic cover over the controller

I'm no expert, but from what I have read on this forum you are on the right track. I'm going to send you a PM with something that might help you....

A quick trick to test a speed sensor is to push the cart, if the speed sensor is good and the buzzer has not been disconnected you should hear a beep.

Could be a loose throttle linkage between the pedal pivot and the MCOR. How far down do you push the pedal before the MCOR clicks? Should only be about an inch.
A zip tie on the linkage bar between the bar and the pedal usually takes care of that for a while.

Or the MCOR is failing and giving an erratic signal.

Talking Re: 2003 DS surges

hi
i went today and took the cart to a small hill .When I give it a slight push the reverse buzzer starts sounding so i guess the speed sensor checks out .
I jacked it up to check for play in the MCOR shaft and it was tight . As i crawled out from underneath i spotted the diagnostic terminal "DUHH" so then i connected my Curtis scan tool!!!
There were no current codes but plenty in history
a)HPD
b)main welded
c}main coil fault
d}motor stall
e}low battery voltage
f}throttle fault 1
g}proc./wiring fault

So i cleared the fault history and drove it again, runs like a top and when driving and monitoring the data i see no blips whatsoever.
i have no access to the explanation of these codes since there are no manuals on line . Can anyone help with the code info

When (b) happens, the cart will act like it has a bad speed sensor and go into limp mode. Your solenoid is likely sticking closed from time to time.

I wouldn't put much faith into those old codes. There's no telling how long they've been in the history. You made the best decision by clearing them. Now you can drive it until it fails again and re-boot your scanner and see what codes are there. At least you'll know what's recent. Let us know from there and we'll proceed to help you figure it out.
