Ezgo Cart will not move Alltrax AXE 4855
I purchased an AXE 4855 from you several years ago.
It has never had a problem. Was running fine until a couple weeks ago. I press the accelerator in forward and in reverse and I get a green light on controller, solenoid clicks but no movement. The batteries are fully charged. All connections are clean tight. Solenoid closes and contacts are good. It just stopped working. I’m lost. From everything I checked it looks like it should work. Can someone help with what I should look for next? Thanks |

Re: Ezgo Cart will not move Alltrax AXE 4855
With an AXE controller, your cart has a series drive, so the F/R switch is the most likely suspect.
Connect your DVM between the controllers B- and M- terminals. Push pedal just far enough to make solenoid click and you should read full battery pack voltage (38.2V when fully charged). IF you don't get it, check the voltage on the 4 studs on the F/R switch assembly. Any stud without voltage indicates the contacts are not making contact. ------------- If you do get pack voltage, slowly press pedal to floor and the voltage ought to smoothly decrease to 0V. If it doesn't, check the throttle input to the controller. You didn't mention a year, so I don't know if it has a pot-box or an ITS type throttle. |

Thank you the quick response. I will check that when I get back to the unit. Now that you mention it, I did not check the F/R switch contacts, I relied on the clicking of the solenoid.

Re: Ezgo Cart will not move Alltrax AXE 4855
Alltrax controllers should have an LED that not only indicates they're powered up, but also any faults. If you get the 'low battery volts' error it often ends up being a bad solenoid. With a bad solenoid the controller only runs off the pre-charge resistor and causes a false low voltage condition. Just because a solenoid clicks doesn't mean it's good.

Re: Ezgo Cart will not move Alltrax AXE 4855
I checked the F/R switch first and we do have voltage across the terminals.
Connected between B- ans M- on the controller and got full pack voltage. Then pressed peddle slowly to the floor and the voltage stayed the same it did not go to zero. Disconnected throttle input at controller and got 3.161 M ohms at no throttle 3.141 at solenoid click 3.138 at fully depressed throttle I disconnected the AXE controller and did a diode test per Alltrax B- to M- was .425v and was within the .5v_+- .2v range M- to B+ was .429v and was within the .5v_+- .2v range I reassembled the controller and put new ends on the battery and controller spade connections. Wires are good to the throttle. Batteries are fully charged. Controller flashes 4 green and then solid green when throttle pressed and solenoid engaged. I jumped the solenoid with throttle depressed and nothing. I think it is beginning to look like the throttle. This is an EZ-GO TXT model not sure of the year. 4 green is EZ-GO inductive (ITS) according the the manual. Thanks in advance for any assistance. |

If you can eliminate the F&R, the solenoid, and the throttle signal... it's the controller.

"Connected between B- and M- on the controller and got full pack voltage.
Then pressed peddle slowly to the floor and the voltage stayed the same it did not go to zero." This would lead me to believe the controller is the problem. |

Re: Ezgo Cart will not move Alltrax AXE 4855
Thanks, I was just testing the thottle sensor. Between the pins I have 6 volts when the selunoid engages and 4 volts when pushed to the floor.
I check the resistance on the black and white wire to the controller and disconnected from the sensor and get .2 ohms on each. I cleaned the terminals and the connector. While I had the thing open I checked the sensor. There is no continuity. No ohm reading. I thought this might be a coil and that it should have continuity of some sort but maybe I am wrong. I did test the controller as suggested by Alltrax checking the diode. It passed with .425v and .429v. |

Quote:
Alltrax SPM, SPB, AXE & NPX controllers, measure the voltage between the two throttle pins (see pictures below) with the key on and the peddle depress just enough to active at the foot switch. You should hear the solenoid close at this time and have a lit LED light. You should see 10 volts on the throttle pins. Press the Pedal down to the floor, full throttle and you should see 6 volts. |
