Default 2006 Precedent Custom Stereo Install

I started this build by laying out four layers of combo (chop/woven) fiberglass mat which came to about 1/4" thick. I then bonded a piece of 1/4" masonite to the back side to stiffen the panel a bit. Next the holes for the speakers and marine housing for the radio were cut. I cut the original grilles for the speakers down to make them sit flush in the panel. After everything was fit to the panel I bonded the and started to blend them in with Dynaglass. Then came the Bondo to smooth everything out, a little texture & paint and the dash was done.

After completing the dash I covered the pockets in the dash area with 1/4" ABS plastic to mount all of the components to. I used a 30A converter to power everything that require 12V. I used a JL Audio XD400.4 amplifier to power the dash speakers and subwoofer. For the subwoofer installation I built aluminum frames attached to the left & right cart frame rails to support the enclosure. The box was made out of cabinet grade plywood and then coated with fiberglass to protect it from water. The enclosure sits between the battery well and the bag well.

The JL Audio 10" sub fires down towards the ground. BTW, the dash speakers are Polk Audio 5 1/4" 2way. I wanted to use 6 1/2" speakers but there just wasn't enough room in there.

Unfortunately there is not much on the market for Precedent dashes that will accommodate a radio and speakers. It is a fairly tight space to squeeze a pair of speakers into.

Great looking install!! Can you elaborate a little on the wiring of the amp? I have my stereo installed and the ran the amp wire, but when I connect it to the battery, it pops the fuse. I have tried it with 2 different amps, so I don't believe its an amp issue, I think there is a problem hooking the amp power wire directly to the battery?? Not sure?!?!

What I am I missing to make this work??

Again, awesome looking cart. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Are you connecting the amp to the + & - of the same battery? I used a 30A dc to dc converter to connect all of my accessories to. It takes a 48V input and outputs 12v, that way I drawn power off of all 4 batteries instead of just one.
