05' 48v Precedent has Admiral motor on stock controller?
So I picked up a local 05' with bad batteries for my lithium build. After getting it home I noticed it had a red motor, which I though was a little strange. Once I wiped it off I see it is an Admiral MOT-A2! So score for a high speed motor. Question is the cart is running a stock Curtis 1510A-5250. Seems like this would be a crap combination or not even supposed to work together no? I was set on an Navitas AC conversion but should I simply upgrade the controller? Goals for this cart oncr lifted on 23" Tires is 30mph and no hill issues.

How fast does it run with the stock controller? You may want to check it first when you get the batteries. At 6000 rpms with 23" tires, that motor will safely get you to 34 mph. You can push it to 6250 rpm and only gain 1 mph so it is not worth it. If the Curtis will not get you to 6000 rpm, a conversion to an Alltrax XCT will. That probably would be the least expensive, excellent choice. |
