Both sides are not positive. Do you have the 2 solenoid setup?
Did you just buy this cart and don't know any history of it? |

Yes,2 solenoid setup,do not know history
Update,I removed blue/white wire,on small terminal on solenoid, jumped with neg pack voltage, solenoid clicks, and I hear motor turning ,but no wheel movement |

If the motor is running one wheel or the other should be turning.

Re: 1997 club car powerdrive plus,no solenoid click
You don't have "positive" on both sides. Voltage shows in a circuit all the way to the point of the "opening" in the circuit, whether that's the end of a wire, or a switch, or in this case the controller. The solenoids always have power when the pack is connected. The controller engages or disengages the solenoids by closing or opening the negative side. As long as the solenoid coil is good (not open) you will see voltage on both sides of the small terminals.
If the motor is turning the wheels turn. There is nothing in the axle or transmission to disconnect the motor from the wheels other than a massive failure (broken gears, etc). It sounds like you are not getting negative for the solenoid coils. This is because the controller is not getting proper signals to allow the solenoids to work, OR the controller has failed. You said it has a black controller, the original regen-1 controllers are shaped like a T. Is that the controller you have? If it is, it's very likely the controller has failed. |

Re: 1997 club car powerdrive plus,no solenoid click
Some Regen 1 controllers emit a high frequency whine, which you may have interpreted as the motor turning...it's most likely not turning. But the whine doesn't mean the controller is working....it's just some of the electronic components "making noise".

Re: 1997 club car powerdrive plus,no solenoid click
BTW - if you have a Regen-1 controller that's working properly, just turning the key is supposed to give a very audible click. About 10-30 seconds later (if you don't touch or move anything) you will hear a second click. You will also hear a click, when you press the accelerator pedal (with key on).

Re: 1997 club car powerdrive plus,no solenoid click
Yes I hear a hum or whine at the motor, tested yellow and white wire coming out of MSP,0 to only 3.8 ohms when fully depressed. Read on another post about checking voltage output ,yellow wire and pak neg voltage, where do I check that?

Re: 1997 club car powerdrive plus,no solenoid click
I have sent you a private message with a link to download a full service manual for *1996* Powerdrive Plus. Your system will be virtually identical except possibly you have a accelerator pedal which is Multi-Step (a small pie shaped wedge between your batteries) vs my manual which has a Continuously variable type. Otherwise the wiring diagram and test procedures should be identical for the Black Controller you have. It should help a lot.
