3 wire voltage reducer
I'm rewiring my 96 cc ds and cant figure out the reducer. It's a 3 wire with very little writing on it. One side has one black wire with a large ring terminal on it that went to the negative post of the speed controller and the other side has what appears to be one black wire as well but actually is 2 wrapped together that only separate for the last couple of inches. These have spade terminals on them and were wired to a bus bar. There is no labeling as far as + or -. The only writing I can find is Caution Hot, Max Watters 125 Max Amps 28 Never heard of a watter before.
The wiring was definitely messed with so I dont trust anything. Thanks for any help |

Re: 3 wire voltage reducer
Hmmm, could you post some pictures of it? Pics of the labelings would help too.

Re: 3 wire voltage reducer
Are the wires coming out of each end?

Re: 3 wire voltage reducer
I have an old one I took out of my cart that is close to what you are saying. The one larger wire goes to the neg post of the pack. The others are for connecting to the neg side of what you are running like lights. Then the pos side, for the lights will come off one of the battery that gives you the correct voltage for the power reducer. Mine was 16 volts.

Re: 3 wire voltage reducer
Max WATTS. Sounds like this has a common ground if it has three wires. One to Plus Bat, one to Neg Bat, Neg and third would be the output 12V.

I dont understand how the positive gets into the circuit. I have 8 volt batteries. It looks like someone ran a hot from the number one battery directly to the light switch. One bulb was burnt out. |
