Default TXT/PDS speed increase

I have a 2001 E-Z-GO TXT/PDS which is stock except for a freedom chip (So called).

It currently runs at about 17.5 to 18 mph and the electric braking is disabled.

I would like to get the speed up to about 23-25 mph. For my application the torque is fine.

Is it possible without spending a mint?

What would be the best approach?

There is one thing that is not too expensive that most owners overlook. You could install a set of 4 ga wire to replace the original stock battery cables. This is the 1st performance upgrade that most people make. High wire count 4 ga welding cable. Clean the terminals thoroughly when installing the new cables. I don't think that will get you to 23. You need more rpm or different gear ratio. Run the tires as high as you can safely and comfortably. It will help the overall performance.

Thanks Tony!

I am going to change the tires to 20.5 in diameter which D&D motors charts tell me
should add about 2-3 mph to my speed.
I will also be changing all my battery cables using some 2 ga welding cable I already have as soon as I can round up some appropriately sized terminals and solder pellets.

Other than a welder this is the first low voltage high amperage gadget I have ever
dealt with and I am quickly learning it is a whole new ballgame.

I greatly appreciate your pointers.
