Best first modifications please
New member here . I have purchased a 2011 Club car 48 volt.
It has already been lifted and has bigger tires on it. Batteries are a year old. It seems the top speed is around 16 to 18 MPH. Sorry for what i am sure is a repetitive question, but what are the "recommended first mods performance wise, or must have/do mods. I have searched a little bit and could not find a comparable question. thank you in advance for any and all advice. |

Depends on how you intend to use it and the environment its it. Climate, topography, mostly on road or mostly offroad, hunting, street cruiser--you get the idea. Also what are your goals for performance?

Re: Best first modifications please
Welcome to BGW - your question is a good one. I see people every day asking why their cart won't climb a hill after putting a lift kit and big tires on. Most people never think that putting big tires on a golf cart actually changes the gearing ratio. Take a popular size like 22-23 inch tires. These are easily 22% taller than stock so they add 22% more top speed and reduce torque by an equal amount . In reality they change the rear end gearing from 12.44:1 to 9.70:1 and that can cut the stock electronics and motor off at the knees. A very popular fix for this problem is an Alltrax upgrade with the XCt48400 or XCT48500 controller, a HD or Superduty 200 or 400 solenoid, 2g cable set and even a higher torque and hp motor.

Yes, that is a Sepex cart so you need to get the amperage up to handle the additional loading (or loss of torque) and the Alltrax line is you very best and economical way to get there.... You will see speed and more torque....

Re: Best first modifications please
Thank you for answering!
I checked and it does have 23” tires. No real end game or reason to up power other than just plain ol’ bored with running 16-17 mph, on average. Would certainly like to up it to around 22-26, how obtainable is this, easy? Moderate? Costly? The private road it will mostly travel is pretty hilly so yes the loss of torque feels tremendous! Would certainly like to improve that. Cart will mostly be used on said private road, and around our 10 acres, mostly grass, gravel, no real mud, or rough off-road conditions. |

Re: Best first modifications please
The XCT 500 is the biggest Sepex controller Alltrax makes. It will be more than your stock motor can take, but you can tune it down and map it for your OEM motor and then down the road when you want to replace the motor, you can map it back up and max out the controller for all its potential.
With it and as posted earlier, you will need a HD solenoid and 2g cables to give you what you need and then later or now you can get a bigger/better motor. Look here for ideas... https://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/c...rs-and-magnets |
