Default 12 Volt Reducer produces 15 Volts?

Hey guy's I hope everybody is having a good Christmas.

This new post kinda follows my previous but this is different. I'm using a voltage reducer that runs off my 2, 8 volt bats that's suppose to produce 12 Volts. It is wired correctly!! and I thought it was producing 13.5 but it is actually producing 15 volt's. I think maybe this has been my problen from the begining now that I'm on my third radio in 3 yrs. Isn't 15 volts a little hot for a 12 volt radio?

Any thoughts? The radio and wires are not getting any extra juice from my other motor windings going out prob.

Thanks,

Steve

15 volts is no big deal. A car alternator produces 14-14.5 volts when charging

Does anyone find it odd that the op states the converter is running on 2 of the 8 volt batteries and producing 15 volts? Doesn't seem like much converting going on there.

By load they mean hook up a light or radio or something to the converter and then measure voltage with that device operating.

yes. some regulator designs require a minimum load before they will operate within spec.

He has a reducer, not a converter. Reducers run off 2 8 volters to produce ~12 volts. It's a cheap way to run lights or other 12 volt devices if your cart only has 8 volt batteries. He should have saved up for a 48 volt to 12 volt converter, in my opinion.

@ OP, check your batteries in your meter, they may be getting old.
